And some eco tips:

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Here are three areas that you can reduce your consumption:

Energy. A no-brainer. Energy expenditure releases carbon into the environment. And the lifespan of non-renewable sources, such as coal and oil are fast disappearing. Alternative (renewable) energies such as wind, solar and geothermal need to be further explored and developed so that we can reduce our dependency on non-renewable methods.

Water. Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink. Over 70% of the earth's surface is water, but very little of that is fit for human consumption. De-salinization is an idea, but that takes time and money.

Solid Waste. Our landfills are becoming overloaded, and it takes a long time for material to decompose. The only solution is to reduce your solid waste output by reducing your consumption of common items. Buy carefully and be judicious of what you put in your trashcan.

5 Things you shouldn't recycle:

  1. Pizza boxes. The oil from the pizza can seep into the cardboard, making it un-recyclable.
  2. Napkins/Paper Towels. Alone they're fine, but most have been used to wipe up food or cleaning products, rendering them un-recyclable.
  3. Sticky Notes. The adhesive strip makes them a no-no.
  4. Plastic Caps. When you recycle your plastic bottle, lose the cap!
  5. Wet paper. Damp paper fibers tend to shorten, making them undesirable to paper mills.
